AEmgee Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 Congratulations, you got your price of $95 for a 5-star hotel room. Marriott Brisbane City Centre515 Queen Street Brisbane, Australia 61-7-33038000Check-In Date: Monday, January 2, 2006 Check-Out Date: Thursday, January 5, 2006 Your Offer Price: $95.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $285.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $41.46 Total Charges: $326.46 Previously bid $95 and got counteroffer for $22 more. Waited 72 hours, tried again, and won. Great reviews for this hotel. Best rate on Marriott.com was AU$235.00/night (~US$174) which includes two breakfasts worth AU$32.50 (US$24) each. So I guess the savings aren't huge if you want to eat their breakfast, but I think I could find breakfast, lunch, AND dinner for $24!
thereuare Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 Congratulations on your win!Thank you for posting and sharing it with the rest of the board.Interesting that you caught the rate change within your 72 hours window when this stay is nearly 6 months away... wouldn't expect the hotel to change/add rates this far out. Regardless, looks like you got a great deal for this property and we have a new hotel to add to our lists! :) Enjoy your stay. AEmgee Posted July 9, 2005 Author Report Posted July 9, 2005 I wonder if the rate change was due to currency conversion issues - maybe $96 would have won it 3 days ago? I'm not entirely sure how it works when the retail prices are listed in another currency. So far out, I wasn't willing to bid higher than $95 because that's what I've seen elsewhere.
