Camealdudu Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Hallo, I tried to bid a 4* hotel in Jersey city with 100$, and re-bid slowly till 150$. It failed.I wonder how's the price in mid-Mai or is that a kind of early to book? First time to bid in priceline. Thanks.

thereuare Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Rates are high for these dates but you might be able to get something like the Sheraton Suites in Weehawken within your budget. This is a little less convenient than the Jersey City/Hoboken options in the area, but it is do-able as you would commute to Manhattan via bus which picks up/drops off virtually at the doorstep of the hotel.A better option if your amenable, imo, is to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID as it think you could stay the first two nites in Weehawken and then the last two nites in Jersey City/Hoboken... and you'll probably save a few dollars by doing so as well. The upside is that you'll get the 'better' hotels in the area for the last nite of your stay... the downside is that you'll need to change hotels mid-stay.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Camealdudu Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 Thanks for the reply. I will try slip the date.On hotwire you can get a 4 star hotel around 135 Euro in mid Mai, so the price on priceline shall be not higher than it, I suppose.
thereuare Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 On hotwire you can get a 4 star hotel around 135 Euro in mid Mai...Please change the currency drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to US Dollars (and if applicable the country to United States). Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase. However, i believe that the 4* on HOTWIRE that you're seeing may be the Sheraton in Weehawken which is not in PRICELINE's Jersey City zone, and there for not an apples-to-apples comparison. ;)Assuming you're ok with SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID i would try the following:When bidding 4* in Jersey City you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Jersey City...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115Try the above for:May 15-19, if rejected close browser and re-try...May 16-19, if rejected close browser and re-try...May 15-18, if rejected close browser and re-try...May 17-19I suspect you don't have too much of a chance until the May 17-19 bids, so don't get discouraged if your earlier bids are rejected.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
