kethee Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Reporting $225 for Wynn over memorial day weekend, booked through PRICELINE Just more data, I did this 3/21 - bid in $5 increments $110-$140 for both strip north and strip south vicinity independently - all fails, then $140-180 for both areas, $180-$225 for just strip north. One thing I'd want to mention is Wynn will not change your bed type, they say priceline has to do it, but when priceline tries, they deny them. I'm sure its a Wynn thing since doubles go for $100 more than king (I didnt know this). So now we have a problem, 4 girls with a king bed - we dont want to risk being placed in another hotel by bidding another room, but dont want to pay retail...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thereuare Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 If the difference in room type is $100 it makes sense that they wouldn't change it for free.I'd call the hotel and ask if the couches in the room have a pullout sofabed. If yes, would this work for your plans? If you're told some/most do, i'd ask if you can have one of these rooms assigned to your reservation since (even though there are only two of you) you and your friend don't want to sleep in the same bed.If the rooms do not have sofabeds (or this wouldn't work for your group) i'd inquire if yo could pay for an upgrade. Await their response... if no, let them know that you see the difference in room rate is $100 and that you'd be willing to pay that to confirm your two bedded room. If they want more than $100/nite then counter and offer them $100/nite (with an explanation that this is fair since that is the room rate difference between the room you booked and the room you want). While i'm sure you don't want to pay an extra $100/nite, this does seem 'fair' and would still be cheaper than booking an additional room. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what route you take and how it goes.Good luck! kethee Posted March 23, 2012 Author Report Posted March 23, 2012 Thanks for the advice. I called Wynn and Priceline multiple times and both are adamant about the inability to make any changes. Wynn says I can request upon check-in, and if available Id be subject to a $30-$50 charge. I asked both hotels how much it would cost to upgrade to the doubles and both said there is no amount money and that its a system constraint (which Im not sure I believe). Given that its a holiday weekend, and their sofa is not a sofa bed, I don't think I can take that chance...I've already made a double room reservation through FHR.Thanks!
