smurfgun Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Hi,I'd love some help to get a good price for a hotel in the Waikiki Beach area. The dates are for 4/13 to 4/22.Here is what I got from HOTWIRE for $161.Near BeachSmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterPool(s)Business CenterLaundry Facilities (self-service)High-Speed Internet AccessGolf NearbyTennis NearbyAny additional comments would be great. I want to try PRICELINE but it seems so much more risky. If someone can comment on how I can maximize chances for say Sheraton w/ price line for these dates, that would be great! Thanks in advance!Ray
thereuare Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 The HOTWIRE property above matches previous reports for the Waikiki Parc so that would be my best guess for this one.You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and/or how it goes and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. smurfgun Posted March 22, 2012 Author Report Posted March 22, 2012 Thank you for your response. Are there any hints as to how I can best bid on priceline to get a hotel like Sheraton? To me, there seems to be a big difference between Waikiki Parc and Sheraton although they are both 4*. So, any information on how to best play priceline would be greatly appreciated.Ray
thereuare Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. As per above, there is no way to target or avoid a specific property when bidding on PRICELINE.Although the Waikiki Parc has never been reported to the board thru PRICELINE's "Name Your Own Price", through the retail side of their service the Waikiki Parc is 4* rated, so you should be able to avoid this property by only bidding 'Resort' star quality. However, you would be subject to any Resort class hotel in the zone, not just the Sheraton. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
