Priceline Hotel: advice needed for trip(5/26-30)

Hello,

Two of us will be in NYC 5/26-5/30. We would like to stay at a 4* or 5* hotel in Mid-town/upper-town/meatpacking district. Any bidding advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Then to move forward and avoid any confusion, please list the zones by PRICELINE name, that you're willing to accept. Many of the areas of the city you've mentioned above are subsets of the zone boundaries that PRICELINE uses to designate a given area, and you could win a hotel anywhere within the zone as defined by PRICELINE. If you enter 'New York City' in the search box on the top right of the board you'll be taken direct to the page with the PRICELINE map and see the zone boundaries.

Thank you for replying! I'm willing to stay at a hotel in any of the following areas(Priceline zone).

Upper Manhattan, soho-Tribeca, Chelsea - village, Midtown west, Midtown east, Upper Manhattan

My Maximum bid is $180 per night(include all fees). Of course, the lower rate I can get, the better.

Those zones are from the 'retail' side of PRICELINE which differ from the zones on the "Name Your Own Price" side of PRICELINE.

Enter 'New York City' in the search box on the top right corner of the board and you'll see the zones for the bidding side of their service.

Thanks for your suggestion! Finally, my trip is confirmed. I plan to stay at 4* Hilton Fashion District in Chelsea area. Which site is better for making bid on this hotel? Do you think $150/per night a bit low for that time of the year?

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.

Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

I see. I saw that hotel is the only 4* in Chelsea on your priceline hotel list. Have you received any feedback regarding that area? What are the other possible 4* hotels?

This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Priceline all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change, so it is always a good idea to look at the Priceline map before purchasing. DO NOT USE THIS LIST to determine what areas to add when attempting to bid again within the 24 hour window (CLICK HERE for information on how to add cities in order to bid again).

In light of the above, you MAY get a hotel that is NOT on this list, or get a hotel on this list but at a star level you didn't expect (if the star rating has changed).

I'll also add that if you're looking for the best deal possible, you should include as many zones that are acceptable in your bidding. The more zones you include the more hotels are eligible to accept your bid price, which should translate to a better deal.
