fendibag101 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 We are going to Vegas 4/19-21 for a wedding at TI. I've checked Hotwire and they have a 4 Star North for $125 a night. From what I've read, it looks to be Mirage or TI. I was going to try to bid on Priceline. Can you tell me what the difference is between LV Strip North and North Vicinity? Also, I thought I would try a 5 star just for fun but I do not want Trump's. I read that was in it's own category of North Condo but I don't see that on PL. Also, Expedia shows TI with tax as $377 total. Would you bid 60% off that total price? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Can you tell me what the difference is between LV Strip North and North Vicinity? They're the same. Also, I thought I would try a 5 star just for fun but I do not want Trump's. I read that was in it's own category of North Condo but I don't see that on PL.Where are you looking, as you shouldn't be looking at the 'retail' listings which use different zone names and boundaries than the 'bidding' side of their site. If you enter 'Las Vegas' and your dates in the search box on the top right of this page, do you then see the 'Strip North Condo zone listed? ALSO NOTE: you don't want to use the 'retail' side of PRICELINE to determine your re-bid zones, you want to follow the methods outlined here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. If you're new to re-bidding is highly recommended that you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Also, Expedia shows TI with tax as $377 total. Would you bid 60% off that total price? No, because the Mirage is a possibility too and their rate could be cheaper than the TI's rate, thus ending up in an overbid if you only consider rates from one property when there is more than one potential outcome in the zone at that star level ;) If you let us know your maximum bid we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fendibag101 Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 Thanks for the detailed reply. I used the box in the right corner as suggested and entered my dates (we may now be adding 4/18 so I did 4/18-4/21). Zone 7 is Strip North and Zone 8 is Strip North Vicinity. No Condo listing appeared. $100 is our max per night. We prefer North Strip but budget is our main objective so South Strip may now be an option.
thereuare Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 You're correct... looks ike they've change the name of this zone.Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North would be the zone that contains the Trump. As this stay includes a Friday nite i think $100 may be tough for a 5* hotel in either zone, but how did you want to begin...5* hotel in the strip north, if rejected try 5* hotel in the strip zone... or the least expensive 5* in either zoneOR4* hotel in the strip north, if rejected try 4* hotel in the strip zone... or the least expensive 4* in either zoneLet us know how you'd like to proceed and and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fendibag101 Posted March 21, 2012 Author Report Posted March 21, 2012 4* is fine. Budget is now a concern. North is our first preference, but would accept South. Still $100 as our max. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Budget is now a concern. North is our first preference, but would accept South. The above doesn't really tell us if budget or Strip North takes priority... which of the following is your preference:4* hotel in the strip north, if rejected try 4* hotel in the strip zone... or the least expensive 4* in either zonePlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fendibag101 Posted March 21, 2012 Author Report Posted March 21, 2012 Least expensive 4 star hotel on the Strip is what we desire. Thanks.
thereuare Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 OK, i'll interpret that to mean that Strip North and Strip South are both acceptable and you'd like the least expensive in either zone. When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Strip North...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Strip South...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Strip North and Strip South...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
