If not (or in addition to the above), repeat the same procedure but using the HOTWIRE search box on the upper left of this page... does anything within your desired star rating and budget appear with either a 'Beachfront' or 'Near Beach' amenity?

What are the dates of your stay? What is your maximum budget (per nite before fees and taxes) for this trip?

You're "ok" with anything within PRICELINE's shaded boundaries of this zone?

You should be able to get something within your $200/nite budget, did you want to first try for a 4* hotel up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5* up to your limit OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?

My goal is 4* in Santa Monica and I'm willing to stretch area out. I noticed that the Sheraton is popping up as a four star but does not have very good reviews. I'm great with all the other 4 stars and even the doubletree looks okay despite $28/day parking, but there really is no way to avoid getting the Sheraton is there?

Nope. With PRICELINE, there is no way to either target a specific hotel or avoid a specific hotel. If you are bidding a zone and star level, you have to be prepared to accept any hotel in that zone at that star level or a higher star level (an upgrade). Sorry.

With HOTWIRE, using the amenities lists and prior reports here it is possible to make a pretty good guess as to what one might get.
