Priceline Hotel: Resort Phoenix (Scottsdale) Hyatt Regency Scottsdale

I was trying to get the Scottsdale Plaza Resort and ended up winning the Hyatt Regency.

The Hyatt is actually more expensive and has better reviews, but we have a dog with us and while the Hyatt charges $50 for the dog, the Scottsdale Plaza Resort does not (they charge a $150 refundable deposit though).

Anyways, I started at $115 as I saw someone else got the Plaza Resort for that, but seeing this is a Saturday night stay I wasn't surprised to end up paying more.

I was able to not change dates or star levels by adding different areas where I knew they didn't have resorts (with one exception)

My main zone was Scottsdale which offers 2 resort possibilities - The Hyatt Regency or the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. I was hoping for the Plaza as mentioned, but ok with either. I added these zones without fear of getting a win somewhere I didn't want:

1. Carefree (1 resort available, but very expensive so was very confident there was no way I'd get this before one of the Scottsdale options)

2. Goodyear (no resorts)

3. Surprise (no resorts)

4. Apache Junction (no resorts)

My wife also did a few bids so we between the two of us this gave us 10 bid attempts (1 for original bid and 4 more adding each zone above).

1. $115 - Denied

2. $120 - Denied

3. $125 - Denied, but countered with $175 offer from Priceline

4. $131 - Denied

5. $135 - Denied

6. $140 - Denied

7. $145 - Denied

8. $150 - Denied

9. $155 - Accepted for Hyatt Regency Scottsdale

Even though this wasn't my first choice, the lowest price tonight for this hotel on Travelocity is $499!
