cindy1975 Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Hi!I read a lot on this site, and today I tried to get a hotel on Priceline, but unfortunately it failed :-(Can you maybe give me some tricks? We are planning to stay 7 nights (30 September to 7 October). We want to stay in a 4* hotel, in an nice area where there are enough metro connections. That is one of our most important things, to have the metro close by to the hotel (max. 10 minutes walk, and a nice area). After some investigations I thought that Times Square and Midtown West are the most convenient places, but maybe you have some other thoughts? We want to spend 200 Dollar per night (including taxes), is this reasonable? When I bidded on Priceline I gave a price of 160 dollar (including taxes the price was about 195 dollar per night).First I bidded Times Square and Midtown west, rejectedThen I added a zone which did not has 4* hotels, rejectedI did this 3 times, and then I changed the price to 165, still rejectedAfter I bidded on all 7 zones which did not have 4* hotels, I closed down Priceline. Can you please help me?Is appreciated a lot!BR Cindy
thereuare Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! As you're discovering, this is an expensive time of year in NYC. At the 4* level, MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB all typically work well for the average user and are convenient to the subway. While rates are high for these dates and i'm not sure if it will necessarily help, are all these zones acceptable and do you want to include these in your next round of bidding?Let us know your thoughts and/or any questions you have and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cindy1975 Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 Hi,Thanks for your quick reply. If you say that prices are expensive at the time of the year, let's then also add all the zones you are suggesting.BR, Cindy
thereuare Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 While based upon current rates i think your budget will still likely be too low, you can try the following:At the 4* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS and ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
