Priceline Hotel: 4* New York City (Upper West Side) The Empire Hotel

Having a hard time finding anything suitable for these dates. I unfortunately booked flights before realizing this is crazy high season. Have bid up in Soho, TS, MTW, MTE, ESB, CPS up to $250 and no takers. Should I reconsider down to a 3.5* (what should I expect to pay for that) or what is the ceiling?

This is definitely a busier time period in the city. What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay? Are there any listings of interest when searching on HOTWIRE?

Thanks Aaron for responding -- I looked yesterday at Hotwire, but their areas are different then priceline and I wasn't sure I wanted to stay in what Hotwire calls Central Park (its a huge area). I deduced from what other people were saying here and the lists of hotels that the 4* that Hotwire has for $236 is probably the Empire Hotel, which Priceline considers UWS -- I bid up from $200 and snagged it at $214 -- not a huge savings of $22/night but still, I'll pocket the 40 bucks :)

Used the PRICELINE links below and thanks for the help -- the reviews for Empire are basically its very small, and a little dated (and we are probably going to be looking at a brick wall) but the location seems pretty good, and $214 is not bad for a 4* given what my other options were.

Definitely a nice deal for the very busy Summer period. I would call in advance and inquire as to room assignment and see what they say in regards to if there are any options.

Additionally, definitely a discount from the lowest rate on Expedia for these dates - $419 a night.
