Priceline Hotel: HELP!! Jersey Stay for NYC

Can someone please help1!! We are staying in North Bergen, NJ on Tonnelle Ave and have no idea how to commute back and forth to the city. I'm sure we can figure that part out but we are having trouble trying to figure out how to commute to the airport (LGA). We booked out flights at LGA for the obvious reason (cheaper!) but ended up with a great deal through Priceline for the room. My question is how to get to Tonnelle Ave from LGA! We are well aware we will have to swap/ switch buses/transits/subways and we more happy to do so since it's SO much cheaper to do so versus a taxi. Should we buy the SmartLink 7 day pass (unlimited) for $21? How does this work by the way. We've only been to NYC once and it was in March 2003 the week war started so everything was different. We will be there next week for 5 days. Thanks so much for any help!
