Knor Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 HelloI have used Priceline and Hotwire before, and used your forum as a great source. Thanks for that! Now I want to book 2 rooms for 2 nights on the 1ste of June 2012. I have tried to bid for the last 2 weeks for a Las Vegas strip hotel North or South without any luck. My maximum budget is 150 $ per room per night. What should be the best time to bid again? Should I wait some more weeks so that I'm closer to the 1st of June?On HOTWIRE there is only one 5* hotel in the North area. If I check the amenities (kitchenette) it is almost certain the Trump. I definately don't want the Trump as it is not situated directly on the strip and in my opinion no 5* hotel. On Priceline the Trump is also not in de Stip North area, but normally under "Strip Vicinity North - Condo" so it is safe to use the Strip North area on Priceline.Any help would be great! Thanks,ManuelPS: I always used your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links
thereuare Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Welcome (offiically) to BetterBidding!I have used Priceline and Hotwire before, and used your forum as a great source.Glad to hear you have found the board helpful in the past. We hope that you will being to share your wins with the board so that the information can best help other users, just as you have been helped by those who posted before you. :)You should safely be able to avoid the Trump by not including the Strip North Condo zone in your bidding.Recently there have been times when bidding 5* South Strip has been problematic when bidding for two rooms... rates are reasonable enough that $150 (perhaps $160 should be enough, imo). I'm not sure if your bidding requires the additional $10 OR if two rooms is the issue. Are you willing to raise your bid by $10 OR take a risk that you receive different hotels if you bid for one room at a time? If neither of these are acceptable then you could wait it out and try bidding twice a week at this point, hoping for lower priced inventory OR inventory for multiple rooms to be released to PRICELINE.Your thoughts? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.. Knor Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 Sorry for the late reply. Sure, I certainly will post my winning bids!In the last few days I tried to raise my bid to 160, but still no luck. I wil keep trying the next few days. I find it very risky to just bid for one room. We certainly want to be in the same hotel. If I check the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins for the end of May/beginning of June tt's almost in every case the Trump and in some cases the Wynn (mostly weekdays). Am I too early to bid and should I waith some more weeks? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Manuel
thereuare Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 It's difficult to recommend bidding higher when i feel 'pretty good' that bidding one one room your budget would likely already be enough. If you've been up to your limit then there isn't much more you can do other than wait it out and hope for more inventory to be released. One risky option i'll mention, but don't know if you're willing to take the risk (or additional cost it could possibly take) is to book one room at $160 or less. Let's assume you win the Aria, then see if the same hotel is offered thru HOTWIRE and purchase the 2nd room there (or make the first purchase thru HOTWIRE, then search again and see if the same property is offered once again). If the same property isn't offered for the 2nd purchase, book one room direct at $239/nite (and use this as a back-up while you continue to monitor HOTWIRE for the same hotel to appear for the second nite). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know any questions you have regarding the above (and if you are interested we'll discuss a few more of the 'caveats' before you move forward)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help along the way.
