sgjfquinn Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 I've been bidding up to $150 for those weekend nights in the CPS, MTE, MTW areas for a few weeks now (4* only). Do you think my bid is hight enough? I do have a backup at the Empire Hotel for $159 BUT it's for a small inside room. I think I'd rather bid a bit higher to have at least a window. Thanks.(I've been bidding through your PRICELINE link)
thereuare Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is there a reason you're not bidding the ESB and/or TS zones? At the 4* level most users find these centrally located and convenient for getting around the city, and the more zones you're able to include in your bidding the more hotels that are eligible to accept your bid. While not as convenient as midtown, HOTWIRE does have a 4* hotel Downtown (i'm guessing Club Quarters World Trade or World Hotel) for $108, and for the price may be something you want to consider if budget is an issue.Let us know if the downtown HOTWIRE property is of interest, or if you want to increase your bid and/or include ESB and/or TS.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. sgjfquinn Posted March 6, 2012 Author Report Posted March 6, 2012 Hi thanks for your reply. I have stayed in TS and wanted to try something else. I didn't want downtown. ESB might work if I need to add it but ideally I'd want CPS, MTE or MTW. The Hotwire MTE's are expensive but Im thinking it might be a bit early yet. Thanks for your suggestions/thoughts.
AaronJB Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 HOTWIRE (and PRICELINE) reservations only ensure a basic/non-upgraded room - you still may end up with a small room at a different property, especially in NYC where rooms (on average) can be noticeably smaller than rooms in many major cities.Rates on HOTWIRE are looking a little on the high side for the season, but it's not that far away at this point. Is $150 your desired max?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
sgjfquinn Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 I'm not as concerned about the size of the room. The back up room at the Empire is an "inside". I'd rather have a small room with a window. i think for now I'd like to keep the max at $150. Do you think that is too low? Thanks much for your replies.
thereuare Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 At the moment $150 is too low in the zone(s) you're bidding... i do think that adding ESB might help as HOTWIRE has what i'm guessing to be the Kitano for $188/nite. Otherwise everything at the 4* level or better is $200+.Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
