I preferred Syracuse (East) to put us a little closer to Utica (running the Boilermaker in the morning), but I tried only East and up to $60 for 3*, 2.5* and 2* with no luck - The stubbornness is probably due to low availability this weekend because of Utica's big race. So I decided to add (North) instead of 1*, since being able to have a swim would be worth the extra 15 minutes drive.

I read that $38 would probably get me the 2* Doubletree in Syracuse (North) but I didn't want another rejection, so I sprang for an even $40 and got it. It's a little less than half of what I could have booked it for elsewhere so I'm quite pleased.
