skelman Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Oddly enough, for the third time in a row we are getting a Holiday Inn property. This time it's in the Smokies. We wanted to stay as close to Gatlinburg as possible, so I wasn't willing to pay more than $50 for hotels in other towns nearby, and Priceline didn't have anything in this price range for 2*. But they did counter offer to add $14 for Gatlinburg and I accepted. This is what we got:Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort Gatlinburg520 Airport RoadGatlinburg, Tennessee 37738Price: $64.00 x 2 nights + $24.31 = $152.31They have not one, not two, but three pools! Sounds good to me...
thereuare Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 I noticed the Holiday Inn trifecta... not sure if it was just luck (or un-luck depending upon your thoughts on the chain... although it sounds as if you have enjoyed your stays thus far) or if the Holiday Inn chain has a big presence in the state. Thanks for the report and new hotel for our hotel lists! Is this 2* rated by Priceline or were you upgraded on your bid?Hope you enjoy your upcoming stay... please let us know how it turns out. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
skelman Posted July 6, 2005 Author Report Posted July 6, 2005 Priceline rates it 2*, although it sounds like it deserves more...
skelman Posted July 12, 2005 Author Report Posted July 12, 2005 On the other hand, once we got there, we realized that the accommodations were more like those in a good motel, so the 2* rating was appropriate after all.
