This is what i call a really helpful, useful, meaningful,…. etc(ful) forum :)

Well, i'll be in NYC from 12/5/2012 to 16/5/2012,

I need a 4*hotel, Midtown west, how much should i bid for using Priceline.com?

The hotel i am targeting is Warwick or something close to it.

Many thanks,

Zeyad

Welcome to BetterBidding!

May is generally a very busy time in NYC and rates can get quite expensive and you will likely need to strike a balance between exactly where you want to be location-wise vs. getting a better deal and being 'close enough'. Can i ask your specific reason for wanting to be near the Warwick... do you have friends staying there and want to be closer to them, have business/conference to do there daily, just like the area, etc?

If you're willing to accept most of the areas bid by the average user (MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB) you're probably looking at ~$225 for a 4* hotel... if you're only willing to accept MTW then it would likely go up from there (although at the moment i can't say just how much). We would of course start lower and work our way higher, but is this within your budget expectations?

What is your maximum bid for this trip? Are you willing to include all/some of the other midtown zones OR did you first want to try MTW only up to your limit? (or if your goal is MTW only, then perhaps MTW and TS, which should be convenient for your needs as well, i'm guessing)

Thank you for your reply.

Well, since my financial training course will be at the Midtown West i was hoping to find something close!

However, i would really appreciate a 4* hotel (anywhere is Manhattan island) for a max of $120/night.

This is probably not a realistic expectation for your dates. Have you checked rate thru 'traditional' booking channels (try MAPS and HOTELS.com)... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable 4* property?

If you want to give it a try let us know the zones, by PRICELINE name, that you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly.
