chrpai Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 I'm planning a trip in June for 4 people. I've read the hotel list and FAQs but I'm a little stumped.Hotwire only shows 4* and below when I try to pick 2 rooms. When I select 1 room with 2 people it comes back as $115/pn for Casino, Fitness Center, Pools, Restaurants, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access. I'm guessing this is the Aria. However, when I select 1 room with 4 people it comes back as $188/pn for the same list of amenities. This has me confused. Am I getting a bigger room for the extra money or am I just being charged more for 2 extra people? Or is it impossible to say?

chrpai Posted March 6, 2012 Author Report Posted March 6, 2012 Ok, I used both links ( wasn't really a question about priceline though... ) and I get the same results. $115 vs $188.
AaronJB Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 With HOTWIRE, it is not unusual to see different listings with different combinations of people (a particular listing may show when searching for 1 room/2adults, but a different listing may show when you search for 1 room/4 adults, as some hotels may only offer double occupancy rooms with the service. There may be issues with inventory (1 discount rate room left at a particular property). If you select four adults for one room, in many instances extra person fees will be worked into the higher price, as well - that would be the reason for higher rates on HOTWIRE when choosing four in one room.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Am I getting a bigger room for the extra money or am I just being charged more for 2 extra people? Or is it impossible to say?Impossible to say for certain, but i'm guessing that the same size room, but you ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone in your group (usually this means two beds, but you could receive a room with only one bed and a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc)... where as if you search for only double occupancy you could receive a room with only one bed (and no sofabed, rollaway could be extra, etc)Note that the Aria charges more for double occupancy vs. quad occupancy even when booking thru their own website, so it's not surprising to see a similar policy for HOTWIRE bookings. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
