Priceline Hotel: 2.5* Miami (South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront) Richmond Hotel

We're looking for a hotel April 26-28 in Miami South Beach - central, Collins avenue oceanfront, or ocean drive. Would prefer anything over 3* but know that may not be realistic so willing to accept 2*. Max bid is $100. What strategy should we take?

Have already bid $100 on 3* and was not accepted. Any guesses as to what may be accepted? Thanks.

Note that this could be a 'risky' area bidding for the lower rated hotels as there are so many small/independent properties of varying quality and upkeep.

HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Richmond Hotel for $121/nite (this property is 2.5* rated on PRICELINE)... would this be of any interest and worthwhile stretching your budget a bit?

FInally got a hotel! After many bids, ended up with the 2.5* Richmond Hotel in South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront for $105 a night from April 26-28 2012. Posted price is $219 a night so we got a savings of 69%. Very pleased!

Series of bids is as follows:

4* - $95-125 - not accepted

3.5* - $95-130 - not accepted

3* - 100-130 - not accepted (at the bid of $125, asked me to bid $156, but I didn't)

2.5* - $80-105 - $105 was accepted

2* - $75-95 - not accepted.
