I'm not currently seeing this property offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, are you searching HOTWIRE for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children?

I just got a new price drop alert 10 minutes ago that says the 3.5-star Vail Hotel has dropped to $144. The dates are April 14 to 16, 2012, 1 adult and 1 child, 1 room. Not sure if I got amenities mixed up before but here's a copy/paste of current description:

This property has not yet been reported to the board, but i believe it was asked about once before and my guess was the Manor Vail Lodge.

HOWEVER, why this 3.5* property with a 4.0/5.0 TA rating when for the same price you can get a 4* property with a 4.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating? (for which i'm guessing is the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa)

Thanks - I was thinking it might be the Manor Vail Lodge, and also wondered why the 3.5 star would be more than the 4 star. Today there is only a $1 price difference between them. If I end up making the trip, will be sure HOTWIRE or PRICELINE link from Better Bidding - thanks again :-)

Each hotel determines their own prices based upon supply/demand at their own property... perhaps there is a wedding, conference, etc at the 3.5* while the 4* hotel has no 'events' planned for these dates; this could increase the price of the 3.5* and lower the price of the 4*, making them closer to parity (as just one example)

Please follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing for the stay, even if you choose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc.
