Priceline Hotel: HELP: Vegas on the strip 7/30-8/1

I'd like to book 2 rooms on the strip for 2 nights (7/30-8/1). I tried priceline last week, started bidding at $65 and went up to $89 with re-bids but no luck. I'd like to keep the total cost of all rooms to under $100/night on average (~$400 total). Splitting my bid is an option as well, so I'm looking for suggestions since I can bid again this afternoon. Thanks in advance.

I'd say we're looking for the cheapest "nice" hotel; we wouldn't mind any of the 4* hotels listed. I'm wary about the 3* ones, though. Of course, we have a budget in mind, so we're trying to stick to that. Through Excalibur's website, we can get rooms for an average of $105/night, so that's my back up option if all else fails.

Well my thoughts are as follows:

-splitting your purchase is your best bet since your dates include a Saturday (a tough check-in date to begin with) and a Monday... chances of finding the 'best deal' for each nite at the same hotel is low

Your rates at the Excalibur actually break down to $150/saturday and $70/sunday. If this is the route you want you could save money by booking the Saturday direct with the hotel and Sunday thru THIS LINK for $62/nite.

For similar money my choice would be to try for the Venetian on Saturday nite thru Priceline (or for $1 extra book it HERE for $108/nite)... then book the Imperial Palace for Saturday nite for $113.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the tips. I may try for the Venetian for Sunday night. I'm undecided for Saturday night, since if we go for the Venetian on Sunday and IP on Sat, we're over our $400 budget. I was banking on the Sun night to be lower, to help even out for the higher Sat night cost.

I'll have to check w/ my husband since we'll be bringing a friend of his with us who has never been to Vegas before. I knew Saturday night would be our problem, but our dates aren't flexible.

Additional thoughts...

If it's your friend's first time in Vegas staying in the Venetian will certainly be a treat. However, unless one is willing to sleep on the pull-out couch, ther ewill likely be an additional $15 charge at check-in for a room with two beds.

Along the same lines, i wouldn't want a friend's first experience in Vegas to be the Excalibur... due to the theme the place it a bit childish in my opinion.

We'll be booking 2 seperate rooms, so we won't be worrying about the $15 extra charge at the Venetian for the extra bed. That said, if we can manage a room for Sat night for ~$100 (such as IP), we may go the Venetian route for Sun to show our friend a really nice hotel (plus we've never stayed there, either).

Thanks again for the tips and I'll be back to post what we decide to do.

I just wanted to update this post:

I ended up booking Excalibur directly through their website a few weeks ago for $109 (7/30)and $49 (7/31). While we were willing to split our bid on priceline, after finding this deal, we decided to just book it since we'd rather save our $$$ for food/gambling/shows, etc.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions!
