Priceline Hotel: holiday in august 2012

hey i'am from belgium (europe) and I want to stay with my girlfriend in a hotel from 31/07/2012 till 03/08/2012 in San Francisco.

A friend told me that the best place to stay, is around fisherman wharf. At priceline i found a hotel 109 dollar a night. A what amount do I start to bet. Or is it better to bet just a few days in advance of youre holiday. I' am beeing told that it's very bussy in august.

Fisherman's Wharf is 'fine' but, imo, a little too touristy for my tastes (but afterall, you will be a tourist). You may also want to consider USE and USW which are consdiered 'downtown', as well as Embarcadero-Financial as another option.

What was the 3* hotel you found for $109 on PRICELINE?

San Remo Hotel was the hotel, we don't need much luxe

Not really sure if the San Remo qualified as a 3* or not, but my guess is that it will likely be tough to beat $109 for a 3* hotel in the Fisherman's Wharf zone, and sometimes at the lower star ratings it may be better to go with a 'known' hotel then to save only a few dollars on an 'unknown' where the quality could be drastically different than your back-up hotel. If you do want to try PRICELINE let us know which zones you're willing to accept, maximum bid, and the star rating you'd like to try for.
