geminich Posted February 27, 2012 Author Report Posted February 27, 2012 ok,i have clicked PRICELINE and HOTWIRE!so,can you help me ?thanks a lot
thereuare Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Seasonally this is an expensive time of year and rates (both thru conventional booking channels and the amount needed for a winning bid) are higher than usual, and it therefore will likely require a higher than usual bid to be accepted (vs. the rates you quoted above which were more likely during 'slow season' of the winter months)While i think your $150 budget may be tough for these dates, we can certainly give it a try. Did you want to first try for a 4* in the zones you haven't yet tried... OR try for a lower rated hotel in only the MTE zone? Also, few things you should be aware of when bidding 3.5* or less in the follow zones:MTE - some hotels in this zone can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be acceptable?CPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while centrally located, has notoriously small rooms (~140 sq. ft.)... would this be acceptable?Lastly, as an aside, i do think you may have success for a 4* hotel at ~$185 or less (perhaps $180 or less) if you were interested in increasing your budget another $20-$25 from your previously rejected bids.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. geminich Posted February 28, 2012 Author Report Posted February 28, 2012 I do appreciate for your help and you are a deligent man. and i need your help more. 1.would you explain what is "thru conventional booking channels" and 'slow season' ? 2.would you give some other zones conveniently in your advice ? 3.Is the bid price in May 5-10 is so high no matter which day to bid (choice of bids opportunity )?thanks!
thereuare Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 1.would you explain what is "thru conventional booking channels"...Orbitz, Expedia, etc... you can use our MAPS and HOTELS.com site too which make it easy to search/sort rates....and 'slow season' ?In NYC, demand is stronger in Spring/Fall and therefore hotels raise rates during these times since rooms are in strong demand and they can fetch higher prices... Winter/Summer is 'slow' season in NYC when rates are often at their lowest. 2.would you give some other zones conveniently in your advice ?It depends upon your thoughts on the possibility of a 15 minute walk to the subway and/or the small rooms referenced above... would either/both/neither of these be acceptable outcomes? This would determine if we include these zones in any suggested bidding strategy. 3.Is the bid price in May 5-10 is so high no matter which day to bid (choice of bids opportunity )?Not sure what you mean... do you mean whether you place your bids on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc, etc... OR if you were to change your dates to something other than May 5-10?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. geminich Posted February 29, 2012 Author Report Posted February 29, 2012 3.Is the bid price in May 5-10 is so high no matter which day to bid (choice of bids opportunity )?I am sorry about misunderstand,in fact my question is When Should I Book, Will Prices Go Down, etc.it doesn't matter!finally ,i bided the jersey city westion 4* May 5-10 at $130,it may spend 30 minutes to downtown .but it ok ,night scene of NYC must be excellent.thank you again!
thereuare Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Congratulations on your success! A nice deal for this time of year, glad to see you're pleased with the results. There is a walkway along the river (opened about a year ago) that you can use to walk to Hoboken and take in the skyline along the way. As you'll be in town for a few nites, i'd recommend spending one nite in Hoboken eating dinner and/or at a local bar as it's a great little town (once you get to Hoboken just follow the crowd or anyone how to get to Washington St... which is different than Washington Blvd in Jersey City)Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
