Bucky15 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 My wife and I booked plane tickets to NYC, now we're looking for a hotel from April 11-April 14. I've booked on priceline before for Chicago, but New York seems to be a whole different animal and I've not had much luck yet. Location isn't terribly important to us -- we'd like to be in any of the following: Central Park South, Chelsea, Empire State, Hells Kitchen, Lower East Side, MSG, Midtown East/West, SoHo, or Times Square. In an ideal world we'd spend <$130, but would go up to $150. Star rating isn't too important, as long as we have a private bathroom. We aren't too concerned with a 15-20 minute walk to a subway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bucky15 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Report Posted February 27, 2012 I don't recall the exact order that I've bid, but it's pretty much covered all of the zones mentioned in my first post, 3.5* and up, through $130.
thereuare Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Historically this is an expensive time of year in NYC but i think you should hopefully be able to win something in the downtown area up to your $150 limit. Note that there is currently no 3.5* bidding offered in the LES zone so we have not included this in your bidding. When bidding 3.5* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, Soho, TS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* HK...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* CPS, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MSG, MTE, MTW, Soho, TS...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Bucky15 Posted March 3, 2012 Author Report Posted March 3, 2012 After some time bidding I finally got a victory! I tried the bidding schedule posted above last week and didn't get anything. Today I bid agains and got The Mansfield Hotel for $143/night. It looks like a solid deal for a 4* hotel within walking distance to Times Square.I used the PRICELINE links on BetterBidding for my win!
