Regarding counter-offers, just like when you won (or are rejected) a page displays "Congratulations, we found a hotel..." (or "We're sorry, we couldn't find a hotel...")... the same type of page appears, but it states something to the effect: "We couldn't find a hotel to accept $xx, but if you're willing to raise your bid by $xx dollars you can try again right now".

Yes, very happy with the results. Thought I might get the Holiday Inn on Wolf Road but the Indigo is a much better property.

Why do you think that I have never received one even though I have used Priceline many times.

I couldn't say why you haven't received any counter-offers during your previous PRICELINE use... they appear somewhat randomly, and perhaps some area are more prone to receiving them than others? (so if you mostly bid the same area perhaps this isn't a region that frequently provides counter-offers)
