branham24 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Wife and I have never been to Paris, going to try to do the whirlwind tour, March 5th-8th. Looking for a 4* hotel to stay in for under $110 if possible, looking for advice if this is too low or even feasbile? after reading on other travelors blogs and posts here and online, we'd like to find a hotel within these three zones, but were def open to other travelers suggestions. We are in our late 20's, looking to sightsee during the day, nice dinner, and some drinks at night. Rather a great location then a ton of amenities, just would like a clean, safe, private room. Thanks for the help. Locations are- St Germaine, Latin Quarter, Montparnasse- Eifel Tower- Champs elysees, Arc de TriumpheJeff
thereuare Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 At the 4* level in Paris you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* LQ and Champs...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* LQ and ET...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* LQ, ET, Champs...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110I believe it is likely that you'll need to bid higher, but HOTWIRE does have some offers in the $140-$150 range that we can look at if the above fails.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. branham24 Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 Update:Thanks for the great advice and once I figured out how to use the re-bid zones that fall under 4*s it was amazing how easy it was to use. Unfortunately I didn't get any takers yet in Paris. Here is my breakdownRound 1)- LQ and Champs $85/90/95 *(using both 3* rebid zones)Round 2) - LQ and ET $85/90/95 *Round 3)- LQ and ET and Champs $100/110/115 *Round 4) - LQ and ET and Champs and La Marais $100/110/120Didn't get any takers yet. Any thoughts on methods for tommorrow?
Romelle Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 You could be getting close. Hotwire has a 4* Porte de Versailles at $118 (out a ways), and a 4* Eiffel Tower at $143 for your dates. You might see if you could consider any additional zones to maximize your chances. Although with your self-described "whirlwind" visit, it might be better to spend a little more on a central location than use some of the time just transporting yourselves. Decisions, decisions....In addition to cabs, Paris does have a very good network of metros and buses, so it is quite easy to move about the city. Romelle

branham24 Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Posted February 23, 2012 Yes, we'd be willing to go up to $150, not ideal but we could swing it. We have a bit more time to book Paris a we don't get there till the 5th so I'd like to move up slowly in hopes of getting the best deal.
thereuare Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 If possible i would try to get this done before your departure... no need to wait until the very last minute and take time away from your vacation to bid, find good internet access, etc... but of course it's up to you how high you want to bid at this time.Select 4* LQ...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Champs...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* La Marais...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* LQ and Champs...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* LQ and La Marais...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* LQ and Champs and La Marais...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
