kjm84 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I'm in the process of planning trip to Las Vegas for 5/23 - 5/26. Over the past two weeks, I've been checking Hotwire for deals. Each and every time, Hotwire returns the same hotels. Here's my question: Can I expect Hotwire to change the hotels it's offering between now and the start of my trip?Based on the information on this forum (which is great, btw), I've been able to deduce one of the hotels is Caesar's Palace. The rate Hotwire is quoting is $162 a night. That's actually more expensive than if I book directly through Caesar's website. Question two: Is it possible Hotwire quoting a better quality room that what I'm seeing on the website?I'd appreciate any help, and I look forward to contributing to the forum once I book my trip.
thereuare Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! (and thanks for the compliments on the site :) )Almost all PRICELINE and HOTWIRE reservations are for 'standard' rooms, but Caesar's is the one excpetion where this may not hold true as they have SO MANY different room types. Their 'classic' standard rooms are the hotel's original wing and don't typically get very good reviews, however, upgrading (either for free or a small fee or for a tip to the front desk) often results in upgrades at this property (although based upon many factors, the most important being occupancy during your dates)What is the HOTWIRE price? What is the hotel direct price? What is your maximum budget for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kjm84 Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks for the insight. For Caesar's, Hotwire is quoting $162 per night. Caesar's website is quoting $156 for a "Roman Tower Room", $174 for a "Forum Tower Deluxe Room", and $185 for a "Palace Tower Deluxe Room". Is there any way to determine which type of room Hotwire is offering? There really isn't a budget for per se. I just want to feel like I'm getting a good deal.As for that first question... Does Hotwire change out the hotel offerings for a given area/"star level"/date range? Caesar's is the 4.5* North Strip hotel I'm seeing now. Is it possible they'll change that in a month? Thanks!
Romelle Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I've watched Hotwire on other cities, and it seems they change the offers all the time. I definitely wouldn't count on a specific offer staying. Romelle
thereuare Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 For Caesar's, Hotwire is quoting $162 per night. Caesar's website is quoting $156 for a "Roman Tower Room", $174 for a "Forum Tower Deluxe Room", and $185 for a "Palace Tower Deluxe Room". Is there any way to determine which type of room Hotwire is offering?Only based upon the experience of others that report back to the board, and based upon my upgrade comments above, even this information may not be accurate as some users may be given an upgrade and not even be aware of it. However, regardless of which room type this would be for, i don't think the HOTWIRE rate is worth the savings (even if this turns out to be a Palace Tower room, which i doubt... my guess is that it more likely be for the Roman Tower room) There really isn't a budget for per se. I just want to feel like I'm getting a good deal.If you're looking for a 'deal' i would think that the Tropicana at $60 would be a better deal than the 4.5* property above. While the Tropicana is not my favorite hotel, it is well located, recently renovated, and at half the price of the 4.5* above would be a better deal, imo. Is this of any interest?Does Hotwire change out the hotel offerings for a given area/"star level"/date range? Caesar's is the 4.5* North Strip hotel I'm seeing now. Is it possible they'll change that in a month?HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone... the hotel with the lowest price is the one offered. So for a different hotel to be shown, this property would need to sell-out, pull, or raise the price of their inventory OR a different hotel would need to offer rates lower than this property's current offer. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kjm84 Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Posted February 23, 2012 Romelle, thereuare - thanks for the feedback. You've given me a couple things to think about. I may wait a month and see what pops up on HOTWIRE. I'm also considering putting in an offer on PRICELINE for a 5* on Las Vegas Strip - South. I think that would put Aria, Vdara and Cosmopolitan in play. I wouldn't mind checking out one of these newer places.

kjm84 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 I went ahead and booked the "5* South" I saw on Hotwire for the dates 5/23 - 5/24. The amenities list matched Aria exactly, and that's what I got. The price was $104 when I booked. It looks like the price dropped a bit since then.
