Jazzniceguy Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Hello! We could use advise on best practices for bidding on a 4 or 5 star hotel this weekend. For this range, is it generally better to start bidding now, or wait until the day of our trip to get the best deal? Also, any recent successful bids on this would be most appreciated. Thanks! Jazzniceguy

Jazzniceguy Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 Hello! We are looking for a 4 or 5 star hot this weekend (2/24-2/26), and are pretty new to bidding. Is it generally better to bit now or wait until the day of to get the best deal? Also, not being familiar with the area, which part of the strip would you say is "nicer" to aim for? Thanks so much!

Michael Hsu Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I'm also looking for rooms this weekend, so to help out a little:I've bid South Strip 5* up to $111 and got a counter of $153. Expedia's price as of right now is $143. A few hours ago Hotwire was $150+.You can try $115-$125 and there's a decent chance you'll get it if that is within your budget. You can also sign up for MGM's mlife and the current rate for Vdara or Aria is $135/night for king room - I'm not sure if you can request queens w/o extra cost or not but guaranteed queens costs extra. For me $111 was really the upper limit because with other promos $111+ is no longer a better deal at Vdara.
