I'm looking for help selecting an area to stay as a family with 3 children (ages 3, 6, 10). We plan to stay 2 or 3 nights in March to sightsee. We'd like to do as much as possible on foot or taxi and would like to stay in a nice area with restaurants around. I was thinking "White House" area. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

To begin, which service are you looking to use?

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

What is your expected budget (per nite before taxes and fees)? Do you have firm dates in mind?

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.

Please change the currency drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to US Dollars (and if applicable the Country to United States). Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.

Then reply to this thread letting know how many rooms/adults/children you're including on the search above and we'll take it from there.

We decided to stay in Dupont Circle, which I think was a good choice. We stayed at the Palomar Hotel (excellent for kids) and won Priceline for $110/night instead of $250.

Was this win recent? or was it back in March? Also on priceline they don't guarantee more than double occupancy right? I have 2 children traveling with me so not sure if I should risk bidding on this but it is tempting. Were they able to accomodate you with an 2 beds?

PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy - if one poster is able to get two beds, there is no guarantee that someone else will for different dates. It could depend on how busy the hotel is or even who you talk to.

You could use HOTWIRE which allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensures accommodations for everyone you include in your search, but note that the second 'bed' in the room could be a pullout safabed, rollaway, etc.

This win was for back in March - 3/15-3/18. Additionally, there are a number of 4*'s in this zone and if you bid for this zone at the 4* level, you have to be willing to accept any property in the zone at that rating.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
