heavylee Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Hi All,I recently discovered betterbidding.com and decided to give it try! :) I will be in the Kapolei/ko olina are of Oahu, Hawaii 3/10-3/13. I understand it's slim pickings on that side of the island, but that where I need to be. Currently Priceline.com list the J.W. Marriott Ihilani Resort $299 for specified dates. I would love to get that down around $175. What would be the rebid zone for this area? I would welcome any bidding ideas/strategies.Thanks in Advance!
chrispee Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 the jw marriott ko'olina is a beautiful hotel! looks like your rebid zones are every zone EXCEPT for waikiki beach and waikiki marina...

heavylee Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 Thank you for such fast responses! I clicked the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links, seems the base price (including price on other travel sites) for the area I'm looking(North Shore/Ko'Olina/Kapolei) is around $200/night+. Hotwire showed $177 for north shore, but I'm assuming its turtle bay, which has a resort fee of almost $30, bringing its total to over $200. Any ideas on how I should go about bidding? Thanks for responding so fast!I've used priceline with some LUCK, but not strategy. I'm really excitied to use a bidding strategy. Any Bidding strategy ideas Chrispee? Thanks Again,HeavyLee
thereuare Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 When bidding Resort in the Oahu region you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select Resort Ko Olina...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect Resort Ko Olina and re-bid zone3...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect Resort Ko Olina and re-bid zone4...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. heavylee Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 So I tried bidding a couple times with the strategy above, with no luck. I followed the instructions up to $175, waited till today and tried again started at $180 going up to $195. Is it too early? Should I try another strategy? Thank again for you help!
thereuare Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I don't believe it's too early, the issue is more likely that there just aren't many Resort hotels in this area and therefore they don't feel the need to offer deep discounts to the opaque suppliers, especially at times when they're able to fetch $299/nite rooms on their own.As you stated earlier this is, geographically, where you need to stay, do you have any back-up reservation or game plan? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
