thereuare Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 This is a the busy season for this area and hotels may not be willing to discount too deeply this early, instead preferring to hold on to rooms to try to sell themselves at full price. As well, this is for a solo Friday nite stay, and many rooms in this area area booked for the entire weekend... if the hotel sells you this solo Friday nite, they may have a difficult time 'matching it' with a solo Saturday nite, and therefore miss out on the revenue that the room would bring in on Saturday.I did find the Doubletree Fallsview for $160/nite and this is cancelable (always double check terms yourself during the check-out process). You could this to secure a 'known' 4* hotel for not too much more than you've already bid which will protect you from rates rising further from here (as well as if some hotels impose a 2 nite minimum stay if they begin to get busier) and continue to try PRICELINE or HOTWIRE as your 'rate to beat' as you get closer to your travel dates. There are also some 3* hotels for a little less... you can use MAPS and HOTELS.com to quickly see the hotels in this area as well as determine how much more/less it will cost if you go higher/lower in star rating or closer/further away from your desired location.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
