nivamm Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Can anyone help identify this hotel for me?Evanston - Skokie - Niles area hotelAmenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s)(0.2 - 6.0 mi from city center) Recommended in 80 % of Hotwire customer reviews $47 per night for 02/25-02/28 (reg. $109)When I cross-reference the Hotwire hotel list, all signs seem to point to the Doubletree but in Hotwire's standard price listings, the Doubletree shows up with a 3.5 star rating for $109 per night. Is there any chance it could be the Hilton Orrington?Thank you!
AaronJB Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Please confirm the star rating of the listing and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
nivamm Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 The hotel shows a 3 star rating. Thank you!
thereuare Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Hotels in the 'retail' listings on HOTWIRE do not always have the same star rating as is available thru the 'opaque' side of their service. This does match previous reports for the Doubletree so that would be my best guess for this one. While it can always be a hotel other than our best guess, I don't see anything that indicates the Hilton Orrington has a pool. If this is the case, then the Pool amenity listed above would pretty much eliminate this HOTWIRE being the Hilton. Are you trying to target the Hilton Orrington or trying to avoid it?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nivamm Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 ah, ok..I saw Pool listed as an amenity on the opaque side, hence, the confusion. I am actually trying to avoid the DT. We would like easy access t the NW campus that weekend as DH will be spending a lot of time there. Thank you so much.
thereuare Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Would Holiday Inn Skokie work for your needs? You may also want to consult our sister site, MAPS and HOTELS.com, which provides an easy way to view a given area and see how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating or stay closer/further away from your specific location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Desteny Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 I was looking at this one as well. The Tripadvisor rating for this Doubletree is 4 circles and the Hotwire listing shows 3 circles. Are these typically accurate/up-to-date?
AaronJB Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 The Orrington was the only known 3.5* on PRICELINE in the Skokie/Niles/Evanston zone, but unfortunately, it was dropped to the 3* level six months ago. It's been a while since the Orrington has been reported to the board as a HOTWIRE win (or that I've seen what would appear to be the Orrington when searching.)The Holiday Inn Skokie is another option, although it's not a particularly good Holiday Inn property - I believe there was a renovation not that long ago, but reviews are still mixed. I actually think the Doubletree would be the more convenient of the two to Evanston, as well as a nicer property and more around it (the very nice Old Orchard Mall across the street, and you should be able to catch a bus at Old Orchard to downtown Evanston if you don't want to drive.)Unfortunately, the Hilton Garden Inn in Evanston hasn't been seen as a PRICELINE or HOTWIRE win in probably years.Evanston's a really nice town with a lot of restaurant/shopping options, and there's some great sights nearby, too.
