Dear all,

me and my wife are planning to stay in NYC in the first week of May 2012. Currently I am working in Alabama and this last week is part ouf our vacation at the end of my assignment. As we are from Germany we have no experience with sites such as Priceline or Hotwire. I have read through some posts and also found some interesting strategies, that were discussed such as split dates of checkin/checkout and star rating comparisons in the nearby districts.

Below I have copied our details. I hope you guys can be of help. My first question would be how to start and proceed. Is there any further information you need in order to help us to find the best deal?

Many thanks!

Check out: 06th May 2012

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I think you used both the US and European date format i the topic title, confirm, this stay would be from April 30-May 6?

Also, you mention your zones are in priority order, but are you willing to pay more for a hotel in the CPS zone vs. MTW, more for MTW vs. HK, more for HK vs. MTE, etc, etc... or is your goal the least expensive property in (for example) the FIVE zones, try those zones up to your maximum, then if rejected try these zones at the 3.5* along w/ MSG, etc, etc.

Lastly, i see you have left Times Square out of the bidding... is this intentional and this zone is not acceptable for your plans?

Please confirm the above and we'll take it from there.

Thank you very much for your reply, thereuare!

Yes this is correct the stay is from the 30th of April until the 6th of May 2012

Concerning the order of priority, yes your are correct as well. We would like to get the least expensive property in the first five zones.

Concerning the question whether we left out TimesSquare intenationally. Yes did so as we think that it might be too loud or too much party crowd walking the streets up and down. In case Times Square is a good location for our price range than we would of cource be willing to add it to the list.

So shall i just proceed with bidding in the first areas or is there anything I should consider first?

Again many thanks for your help. I will use the links indicated by you.

The chances of you winning a 4* hotel in Times Square for these dates at $180 or less is somewhat low, but if you don't think this area is for you, then no problem not including it.

When bidding 4* in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.
