nielloeb Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 Priceline shows only three hotels in a certain area in List View but offers more than three choices in Name Your Own Price View. What
thereuare Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 'retail' and 'bidding' sides of PRICELINE each use a different universe of hotels... some hotels participate in both sides of the service, some in only 'retail', some in only 'bidding'. See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more info on this subject. If you'd like help with an upcoming stay please provide the details (desired star rating, budget, zone(s), dates, etc) and we'll try to assist... we'll also move this thread to the FLORIDA >> Priceline section of the board after your next reply. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nielloeb Posted February 18, 2012 Author Report Posted February 18, 2012 Thanks for the reply. So of the six hotels in the area, only one has smoking. In List View, it is 2.5 stars. If I bid for something other than 2.5 stars, I'm guaranteed to NOT get that hotel, right? I can't risk smoking due to health problems.
AaronJB Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 If a non-smoking hotel is a must, I would suggest instead looking at HOTWIRE and looking for a listing with a "smoke-free" amenity, as that would guarantee smoke-free. With bidding there is always the risk that you could get an unexpected hotel. Please keep us updated and let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 Think of it this way:"List View" (what thereuare referred to as the Retail Side of Priceline) might have hotels A, B, C, D, and E. "Name Your Own Price View" might have hotels B, C, D, E, and F.If you bid, you'll never get A. But you might get F, and you can't see from the "List View" whether that one has smoking or not.Regarding not getting a 2.5 star hotel if you bid 3*s or higher, that is true. It is just that you can't rely on the Retail Side to define what you might get when bidding. Romelle
