sook Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 HelloI was hoping to get Resort Maui (Wailea - Makena) Wailea Beach Marriott Resort And Spa at around 100 but not successful. I have seen postings for this prices but i guess with the date that I want to book, all the rooms are sold out or something. Do you think if I wait more, there might be a chance that I can get the hotel at around 100 or there is no chance at all and I have to look for another place. I don't mind using a 3* hotel. would you have any other suggestions. I would be happy, if I can pay $100 before tax. Is there any suggestions on hotels? I don't mind staying 2 days in Wailea - Makena and 2 days in Lahaina. Thanks in advance for your advice.Sook
Romelle Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 Sook,You don't mention your dates?Splitting your bid can often help. You can first try to bid all 4 nights at one place, and then try the 2 and 2 all within the same bidding session - even at the same bid rate. Changing your dates is sufficient to let you continue bidding.Checking your dates one day at time on Hotwire can give you a good idea about the level you might need to bid via Priceline. And also let you see if some of your dates might need higher bids than others. There is a good discussion about bidding now vs waiting in the FAQs above.Romelle

thereuare Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Unfortunately there is no way to know if rates will drop between now and your travel dates... or if they will move even higher. See the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more information on this subject. In terms of the bidding you have already done, all of that was for the complete stay and at the Resort level? Do you prefer to try lowering your star rating for the full stay OR trying for a Resort for part of your trip (and staying in Lahaina for the other part of your trip?)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. sook Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 Finally I got the hotel of Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas from Jun 14 to Jun 18.I lowered the hotel's level down to 3* and started with 100 but didn't work. It was successful when the price increased to 120. when I bid, I chose area of Wailea ahd Lahaina. Thanks for your help.I used the the PRICELINE link in this website.btw, do you know whether I would need to pay resort fee for this hotel? I thought I didn't need to pay the fee if not resort but someone sounds that I need to pay the resort fee.Sook
thereuare Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you were ultimately successful and are happy with the results... this property gets great reviews. It appears that this property does indeed charge a resort fee (currently $13/day) which would be payable directly to the hotel; it includes internet, self-parking, local phone calls, in room safe, and user of the fitness center.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.
