Bobbio Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Started bidding on a 4* in Costa Mesa - Irvine at $47 based on history gleaned on this site. Got up to $54 and was still rejected. The Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport was available on the non-bidding section of Priceline at $69. So at this point I was getting so close to that price I stopped bidding and just booked the room. For $9 more than what my next bid would have been I got to choose the type of bed, get hotel points, etc. I have to wonder whether maybe the Hilton wasn't participating in the bidding site. No point in it if they aren't going to accept a bid for less than the price for which they would otherwise sell the room.
