Help please!

My husband, 14yr old son and myself fly into LGA on August 6th and fly out of JFK on the 10th. I am looking for a comfortable CLEAN, 4* hotel that will accommodate us in 1 room.

I have only used Priceline once, 2 days ago when I got the Hyatt Tampa Bay for 22nd July via Priceline UK (we are from the UK & couldn't use the American site as it would not accept my phone no!!) but the hotel has not yet replied to my request for 2 beds. I have never used Hotwire and at the moment the cheapest 4* is $244

As it's New York I am worried that the allocated hotel via Priceline won't accommodate our request for 2 beds and how we will then manage?(my son is a very tall 14 yr old).

We have stayed at the Grand Hyatt NY before-2 double bed, booked via their own website but they still allocated a king on arrival. Luckily they did change it for us.

I have also seen the Administrator recommending the Beekman Towers- which look really nice and roomy-but could they give us a studio suite? and is it a bit out of the way?

Please Please help me- I'll need a holiday after all this stress!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please post the details (star rating, zone, hotel win, price, previous bids which were rejected, etc) in the FLORIDA >> PRICELINE forum.

As for your NYC stay, Priceline may not be the best answer due to your triple occupancy. Given the Hotwire rates you quoted above, the Beekman Towers sounds like a good option at $183/nite. It is a bit east, but there is a local bus nearby and the subway is a 7-8 minute walk away... you do plan on doing a lot of walking in NYC anyway, right? :)

If you book via THIS LINK it is for a 1BR room and not a studio, so i don't think that should be an issue.

Thanks very much!

I have posted the info re Tampa on the Florida link and you helped me to finally make up my mind about New York.

I decided not to take the chance with a hotel room and have just booked the Beekman Tower through your link. Four night total inc taxes and fees = $877.76 for August 6th-10th. I should be able to get some sleep tonight!

Any advice on getting to and from the airports? Last time we used the shuttle bus to Grand Central but shouldn't think that'll be any good this time.

Hi again,

My husband, 14yr old son and myself are flying in from Tampa to LGA at about 10.45am on the 6th and then out of JFK to London(boo hoo going home!) on the 10th at 8pm. Will appreciate any suggestions!

From LGA to Manhattan a taxi will be your best option.

From Manhatta to JFK a shuttle may save you about $5 total, but do yourself a favor and go by taxi as it'll be the most convenient and take you directly to your terminal without stopping at the others.

Hi again,

Just thought I'd let you know the outcome of our trip. We stayed at the Beekman for 4 nights, checking in with our son was no problem..they had to send housekeeping to make up the sofa bed and there was no mention of the room being booked for only 2 people.

We arrived at about 11am and asked to check in early, they couldn't accommodate us then but suggested we went for brunch and our room was ready on our return. The room was a little tired looking but very spacious for new york and the staff were very helpful.

We took a taxi from Le Guardia to the hotel $28 plus tip and the concierge booked a private car for our return to JFK $55 plus tip. A taxi may have been slightly cheaper but as they charge by the meter going to JFK (fixed price of $45 plus tolls & tip from JFK)it could have worked out just as expensive because the traffic late afternoon was very heavy and it took us about 1hr 15mins to get to the airport.

hope this info helps somebody!!
