Brissie girl Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 This is the first time that I'm using Priceline, so would appreciate any tips or suggestions! We need 2 rooms from Saturday March 31 to Friday April 6 and are looking for a 4* hotel. Would prefer the TSQ and MTW areas for $150/night max, but then would include HK and MSG if unsuccessful. If that was unsuccessful, would move to ESB and MTE. Does this sounds reasonable for that time of year? I can see 7 re-bid areas that don't have 4*/5* hotels to add, and would go like this:MTW $110Add TSQ $115Add re-bid 1 $120Add re-bid 2 $125Add re-bid 3 $130Add re-bid 4 $135Add re-bid 5 $140Add re-bid 6 $145Add re-bid 7 $150Am I starting too high/low?If unsuccessful, I'd open a new window (with the PRICELINE links above) and try:HK $110Add MSG $115Add re-bid 1 $120Add re-bid 2 $125Add re-bid 3 $130Add re-bid 4 $135Add re-bid 5 $140Add re-bid 6 $145Add re-bid 7 $150If unsuccessful, I'd open a new window (with the PRICELINE links above) and try:MTE $110Add ESB $115Add re-bid 1 $120Add re-bid 2 $125Add re-bid 3 $130Add re-bid 4 $135Add re-bid 5 $140Add re-bid 6 $145Add re-bid 7 $150Does this sound ok? I'm not sure if this time of year is more expensive because of Easter (even though we would check-out on Good Friday). Or is it worth starting lower, as I don't mind waiting a few days to bid again...Thanks in advance :)
Brissie girl Posted January 17, 2012 Author Report Posted January 17, 2012 Ok, I just realised that MSG doesn't have any 4* hotels, so would alter the second attempt as follows:HK $115Add re-bid 1 $120Add re-bid 2 $125Add re-bid 3 $130Add re-bid 4 $135Add re-bid 5 $140Add re-bid 6 $145Add re-bid 7 $150
thereuare Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Based upon current rates i think that $150 may be a bit of a stretch for a 4* for this stay at this time (current rates suggest a bit closer to $160-$180, imo), but with time on your on side you can certainly give it a try, but i'd amend your strategy somewhat, as you can use the zones of your previously failed bids as re-bid zones on your subsequent bidding, as follows:MTW $110Add TSQ $115Add re-bid 1 $120Add re-bid 2 $125Add re-bid 3 $130Add re-bid 4 $135Add re-bid 5 $140Add re-bid 6 $145Add re-bid 7 $150If unsuccessful, I'd open a new window (with the PRICELINE links above) and try:HK $105Add MTW bid $110Add TSQ bid $115Add re-bid 1 $120Add re-bid 2 $125Add re-bid 3 $130Add re-bid 4 $135Add re-bid 5 $140Add re-bid 6 $145Add re-bid 7 $150If unsuccessful, I'd open a new window (with the PRICELINE links above) and try:MTE $110Add ESB $115Add MTW $120Add TSQ $125Add HK $130Add re-bid 1 $135Add re-bid 2 $138Add re-bid 3 $140Add re-bid 4 $143Add re-bid 5 $145Add re-bid 6 $148Add re-bid 7 $150Any questions feel free to ask.Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
