GTI63 Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I am trying to find nice room in vicinity of Venetian hotel for these dates, but my repeat bids upto $205 have been rejected. Any tips or should I widen the scope to include other Strip areas to get a lower price?Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Romelle Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 It looks like your dates are during a pretty expensive time in Las Vegas. I checked 5* North Strip HOTWIRE one day at a time to see if maybe just the weekend or couple other days were particularly high:13 $12514 $18015 $17716 $17817 $17918 $17619 $107Except for the first and last days, that wasn't the case. Also, the HOTWIRE offering likely is the Trump, since it is one of Hotwire's 5* North Strip offerings, but currently is in a separate PRICELINE bidding zone (5* North Condo). 5* South Strip on Hotwire for your full span of dates was $202. Widening your scope never hurts, if it works for your plans. The Hotwire 5* South Strip number suggests things might not be cheaper there, but it isn't definitive. If you are willing to move partway through your stay, you might consider splitting your bid. That can help.Do take time to check the hotel web site rates. One never knows when they might have a special not available by bidding. Links to many of the hotels are in the Las Vegas Checker (first post in this area and also under the Tools menu above). There are links to other Las Vegas hotels on the Support Page. You could make cancelable back-up reservations so you can continue bidding up to the last minute. And of course there is 4* bidding. If you split your bid, you might bid 4 days at the 5* level and then 4 at the 4* level. While you may have to go higher than your $205 current top for the 5*, the average of the two might seem more reasonable to you.Romelle
thereuare Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Retail rates at the 5* hotels in the North Strip zone are all in the very high-$300's/low $400's for your complete stay. Given the high demand, it's not likely that these hotels are offering very deep discounts (to the tune of 50% off) for these dates since they're in a position where they can sell most of their rooms on their own at full price. As discussed above, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID or lowering your star rating for all/part of your stay an option? What about the Strip South zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
