Looking to book a hotel March 15-17. Want 5* with casino and don't have preference on North or South. Heard Palazzo was nice and could possibly get for around my budget.

I am hoping to spend ~$110 a night but will go up to $150. Any suggestions for this date or bidding strategy?

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The Vdara is a 5* hotel in PRICELINE's Strip South zone and does not have a casino on-site (although the Aria's casino is just a 5 minute walk away)... would this be an acceptable outcome? If not, then you can't bid the Strip South zone since there would be no way to avoid this property?

I'll also point out that HOTWIRE has a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone for $127/nite with:

Resort, Suite, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa

This matches previous reports for both the Palazzo and the Venetian so either of these would be my best guess for this one. Assuming correct, this would be an incredible deal for these dates and i wouldn't expect this to be offered at this price for too long.

Do you want to take this HOTWIRE offer OR trying bidding in PRICELINE first? If you want to try bidding, first, let us know your maximum bid (should it be lowered from $150 based upon the HOTWIRE rate above) and if you want to include Strip South in your bidding OR if we should only include Strip North in the bidding.

Thank you for your reply.

I am intrigued by the Hotwire offer of either the Venetian or Palazzo but I am hoping for 2 separate beds. I know that you can upgrade to 2 queens but that puts the total up to $360+ with fees etc. Are these hotels typically accommodating of a request for 2 beds instead of one? I understand that Priceline specifically states that is guarantees only double occupancy, but was curious as to some others experience.

If I did opt for the Priceline route, what would you suggest a starting bid for Las Vegas North given the Hotwire of 5* of, what looks like, the Palazzo or Venetian?

You're going to have a similar situation at all the 5* hotels in the North Strip zone... the ability to 'upgrade' (since rooms with two beds are considered upgrades at most of these properties) will be highly dependent upon occupancy levels during your stay as well what is available at the time you check-in. Hotel policy is $30/nite upgrade charge, although some have been upgraded at no charge (although this is the exception, not the rule).

The Venetian and Palazzo are each selling for $299/nite thru hotel direct channels, so as i mentioned above, i wouldn't expect this rate to last very long, and i would try to make a decision and book asap.

EDIT TO ADD: this HOTWIRE offer also lets you choose the bed type but to ensure 2 Queens the rate goes up to $155/nite.
