astadt Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Hey all!Planning a trip to Hawaii from 19 June - 26 June and am looking at 4-5 star hotels on Waikiki Beach. Ive stayed at the Edition in Waikiki Harbor before but the GF and I want to be ON the beach. Right now we are looking at 4*+ hotels in zone 7 and am wondering what we should start bidding at. Anyone know what hotels are available for those stars there? For a 4 Star this early we are looking to keep it between $130-150 pn, but would love to get it lower. And for a decidedly awesome choice we'd love to snag a 5* for a bit more... $200 seems impossibly low but we'd go up to $230. Groaning at the total cost of that! No chance right?Great Site and Everyone use the appropriate links!
thereuare Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can see all the hotels reported to the board in this Priceline Hotel List. However, if 'on the Beach' is a must (vs. a want) then i think HOTWIRE would be a better option and choose a hotel that lists 'Beachfront' as one of its amenities. If you're new to either/both services, you can see the similarities, and differences, on how each works in this I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire thread.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. astadt Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 My Girlfriend has only given me permission to bid on 5* hotels until she's done her "research" on 4 stars/resorts. So Im going to keep working the Low ball the 5* in sector 7. Im at $195 a night and will resume tomorrow.
thereuare Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 I was made aware (thanks Romelle ;) that i had an error above (i've edited it) but HOTWIRE would be the service you would want to use to ensure a Beachfront location by selecting a hotel that shows the Beachfront amenity. Their service would also seem to work well for your girlfriend who likes to research hotels, as you could have an educated guess as to which property you may receive, and therefore (assuming you guess correctly) know what you're getting one of the better ones n the area (also using the percent recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests and the TA rating, if shown)While you can continue to try PRICELINE for a 5* hotel in this zone, note that others have tried and thus far nobody has been able to this this property, so it's likely an uphill battle and the 5* hotel may not discount much and/or offer hotels too often to PRICELINE.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
