I am looking for a 4* hotel in Midtwon East. Have found a rate of $220 in Hotwire on what it would appear to be the Barclay Intercontinental. Do you think a bid for $185 will be reasonable for this time.

Thanks.

While at current prices i think you'll still likely need to bid higher, if you're trying to stay $190 or less, have you also considered ESB, TS and/or CPS?

Even if you do/don't add other zones, i think you're likely within $10-$20 of a win, but not sure what your maximum budget is for this stay. How high are you willing to bid at this time?

If you prefer MTE and MTW i think you have a decent change at $220 or under so you can try that first, if rejected we'll then discuss your other zone options.

At the 4* level in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(you can either wait 24 hours from your last rejected bid OR when adding the first re-bid zone use a re-bid zone that you have not included)

Select 4* MTE and MTW...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $213, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $218, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $220

Any questions feel free to ask.

Bid $210 today and was also rejected. However at the end there was a message that if I bidded for $284, I could get a match. Unfortunately $284 is way up my budget. I was thinking of bidding a maximum of $230. Do you think I should go ahead and bit $225 tomorrow and maybe get a change of getting something in ME before including other zones?

You have nothing to lose by trying, but if you're hoping for MTE, i would bid up to your $230 limit as follows, taking into consideration your recently failed bids:

Select 4* MTE and MTW...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $223, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $228, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $230

I'm not sure of your plans for this trip, but if the above is rejected you may want to consider HOTWIRE that has a 4* hotel in the ESB zone for $231/nite with: Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Business. This matches previous reports for St. Giles The Court so that would be my best guess here. It generally gets very good reviews and is just a touch south of PRICELINE's MTE zone; however, this property has not yet been reported to the board thru PRICELINE so they may not currently be offering rooms thru their service.

Got the Intercontinental Barclay for $225. This bid had already rejected about three weeks ago. Today I saw what appeared to be the Intercontinental Barclay at $240, and following your advice that you can get the hotwire hotels around $20 to $25 less, I made the bid for $225 for ME.

Thanks for your help.
