designerleanne Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Hi, I'd like to bid on a hotel/resort in San Juan, either Isla Verde or condado. I'm fine with any of the following:Intercontinental, el San Juan, Marriott stellaris, caribe Hilton, or la concha. I DO NOT want the Conrad condado because it does not have a proper swimming beach. My dates are 3/4 through 3/9, but can vary by a day or two if necessary. Any help you could offer? I have never done bidding before, but have searched this site fairly extensively. Also, I'd like an oceanfront room. What are the processes involving upgrades? Do I call the hotel after I've won and just ask? Are there hotels that wont upgrade you due to using priceline? Thanks so much.
AaronJB Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)PRICELINE/HOTWIRE purchases are for standard rooms. One can email/call to request/negotiate upgrades after purchase, but the hotel could very possibly say no or charge extra. If they say no, there's nothing you can do.Additionally, with PRICELINE one can possibly get any hotel in the shaded zone/s selected at the star rating chosen (or possibly higher if they are upgraded by the service.) There is no way to avoid a particular property or properties and there is no way to ensure or increase the odds of a particular property. HOTWIRE, where one can make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing, is a better (if certainly not foolproof) bet in an attempt to *try* to avoid a particular property or properties. What would be your desired budget per night, and would you be willing to accept any hotel in the star rating/zone selected? This thread also offers additional information: I've Never Used Priceline or HotwireThank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
