jhardy Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Thanks for this board. I have been using priceline the past two days, and I have been unsucceessful at bidding for a five star in Las Vegas on the strip. I would like to stay from 03/30 to 04/01 on the strip in a five star. I have started bidding at 80.00 and gone up in 2,3, or 5 dollar increments with a max bid of 125.00. After reading the recommended postings, I have checked either Vegas North or South, and then used the safe bids until I pick Vegas North or South for the last bid. However, I cannot get a confirmation for a five star room. The reason why I started with 80.00 is because it appears that several people on this board and elsewhere have placed winning bids around the 100 range. Please let me know if I should be doing something different, or if the dates are just to far in advance. Any help would be great. Thanks.

jhardy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 I have used the links on this board. I tried the same strategy again today. Do you have any advice? I can raise my bidding, but just wanted to give the ideas on this board a shot. Thanks for any help.
thereuare Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Rates are date specific, so it's not uncommon that you won't be able to get the same winning bid price as another users, especially when their dates are different from your own.Five star hotels in the North Strip zone start at $300+ for your dates so it's not surprising that your bids have not been accepted there... the 5* Strip South properties start at about $200+, making $125 likely too low. My guess is that if you're willing to accept Strip North or Strip South, that you're looking at $140-$165 to win for these dates (most likely in the Strip South zone).. what is your maximum bid for a 5* hotel before lowering to a 4* hotel (or trying for a 5* in the Strip North CONDO zone)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
