thereuare Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The addition/omission of an amenity can make the difference in the property being HotelA vs. HotelB.For the 4*, please go back to HOTWIRE and confirm the full list of amenities associated with this property, as i believe there are more than you've listed in your post above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. BBB3000 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Yes, good catch. I didn't even realize that was an amenity.
thereuare Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 The 3* is a match for the Holiday Inn Apex and the 4* a match for the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, so these would be my best guess for each. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
BBB3000 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Is there any way to know whether or not these are good or competitive prices for this time of year? BTW, thanks for the help! I am just getting used to this board so you will see me on here much more. And if I book, I will be certain to use the link through this forum! :)
thereuare Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 If you go to Expedia and search this location and dates, how do the HOTWIRE prices compare to what is offered for there for these dates? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you ultimately decide to do for this stay. BBB3000 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 $458/night on Expedia. Clearly seems like a good deal based on that. Do you think I can do better with priceline?
thereuare Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board each time you access the respective site(s).PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, but with PRICELINE you can't target/guess as to the hotel you may likely receive, you need to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! BBB3000 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 What I mean is, can I get a similar hotel to the 4* for cheaper on PRICELINE?
thereuare Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 You may be able to get a 4* hotel for a little less on PRICELINE, but you'll also then need to be willing to accept any 4* (or higher if offered) hotel in the zone.If you'd like to proceed with PRICELINE let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. BBB3000 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 How about $175 for maximum bid? I do not know what is thought to be too low!
thereuare Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 On PRICELINE the Cascade Resort and Spa is 'Resort' rated... did you want to try for a 'Resort' class property or for a 4* property? Resorts are higher rated than 4* properties, but also note that there are other Resort properties in this zone besides the Cascade resort and spa.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. BBB3000 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 If I can get a Resort property for <$200 that would be great. I took a look at PRICELINE and saw the difference b/w Resort and non-resort 4*. I am not opposed to non-resort b/c the location is still great. Can you give me strategies for both?
thereuare Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 At both the 4* and Resort levels you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select Resort Vail...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170If the above is rejected you can either:1) wait 24 hours and try again for a Resort property while increasing your bid2) close the browser, use this link to re-access PRICELINE, and repeat for a 4* hotelAny questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
BBB3000 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 What are the two rebid zones? The four options are Avon, Breckenridge, Dillon-Silverstone-Frisco, Keystone. In the future, how can I figure out the rebid zones on my own?
thereuare Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Start with the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Vail, CO' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
