ZGolfer18 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 I'm looking to book a 4.5-5* hotel in NYC for 12/26 - 12/28/2012. Preferred Areas: Times Square/Theater, Midtown East/West or Empire State. Am I looking too far in advance? I don't know how prices will fluctuate between now and then. How much should I be expecting to pay? I have found the following on Hotwire: Any idea on the results? 4.5* Times Square - Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access 4* Midtown East - Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services 4* Empire State - Boutique Hotel, Business Center Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! This should be fairly low season for NYC so i would think that you should be able to get a very nice deal for these dates. What is your expected budget for this trip as the 4.5* Times Square appearing when searching your dates is priced at $400+/nite... is this a realistic option for you?? :unsuare:As well, your post indicates a 4.5*-5* but 2 out of 3 of the hotels above are less than this, coming in at the 4* rating. Please clarify your parameters for this trip and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! ZGolfer18 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 Budget is about $700-800 for the 2 nights, inclusive of taxes/fees. Hotwire only provided 1 option for 4.5*, nothing for 5*. I was trying to use this as a scale for bidding on Priceline, but I do not know what amount to start bidding. Thanks.
thereuare Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 I was trying to use this as a scale for bidding on Priceline...If you intend to first try bidding on PRICELINE anyway, then there really isn't much point in taking the time to research these HOTWIRE offers... all you need to know is the prices offered at each star level, which are shown in the search.PRICELINE doesn't offer a 4.5* rating, and currently 5* bidding is only offered in the Times Square zone... is a 4* acceptable as well OR are you only interested in bidding the Times Square zone for a 5* property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ZGolfer18 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 I am only interested in bidding for a 5* hotel.
thereuare Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 There has only been one 5* hotel reported to the board in this zone in the recent past, so assuming this is the only 5* hotel in the zone, if this property has not yet given PRICELINE any inventory, your bids won't have any chance of being accepted.Did you want to bid up to your $350/nite limit at this time? (which would bring you close to $400/nite all-in)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
