blackout Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 So my friend mentioned to me to try priceline to get the best price for a decent hotel in NYC. This trip is essentially for my girlfriend who has always wanted to go to NYC (and for me to propose to her). I am struggling to get the bidding down. I know I want to top out at 160 per night(not including tax). I have tried going down to even 3* but no luck. I am trying to get into central Manhattan Upper west/east side, central park south, midtown east/west, times square, empire state building area, and madison sq garden... No such luck on bidding for these areas. Any suggestions would be great.

Alternately, HOTWIRE currently has a 4* hotel in the Chelsea zone for $190/nite with Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. This matches previous reports for the Doubletree Chelsea and The New Yorker Hotel Ramada Plaza, so that would be my best guess for this one (both are lower rated on PRICELINE)If you're not willing/able to stretch yoru budget, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID (not sure if it will help) or staying Downtown an option?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
