Hi, my dates are 2/23 to 2/26 for 3 adults in one room and I am looking in the Soho/Tribeca area and I am getting this match in Hotwire (see topic title)

Price is 233.

Amenities as shown:

fitness center

restaurant

business center

high speed internet

I see from other threads that this could be the W or te Tribeca Grand. I am specifically searching for 3 adults and I believe the W only has king sized beds.

I am thinking it could be the Tribeca Grand but I would appreciate if you told me which other hotels could fit the desctiption.

Thanks!!!!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

The amenities above match both the W Downtown as well as the Tribeca Grand, so either of these would be likely. The W Downtown New York does have rooms with two double beds, so that would still be a possibility. Based upon the information shown by HOTWIRE, there is no way to determine which of these may be more/less likely than the other.

It was the W and I am sick to my stomach!I called them and they said they would give me a King size bed and a rollaway bed! Completely unacceptable for three adults! Plus I am paying 233 and the rooms are cheaper than that in their website. I feel totally ripped off and I intend to dispute the charge.

Sorry to hear you're disappointed with the results but:

-a king bed and a rollaway does accommodate triple occupancy, so the hotel is within the terms of their contract/agreement

-if you've found a lower room rate (before fees and taxes) elsewhere, HOTWIRE does have a Best Rate Guarantee where they will match the price. However, searching the Starwood website for 3 adults i'm showing the lowest rate at $244/nite, which would not be lower than the $233/nite room rate you purchased.

As noted above the W Downtown was a possibility, you took the chance and it didn't work out as you had hoped. Have you asked the hotel about upgrading to a room with two double beds?

I have asked but so far they thin its perfectly acceptable to mistreat hotel guests that come from Hotwire. They kepts saying that I should have booked through the hotel andcthey are right.

Do you really think its acceptable fir a 4.5 star hotel to have a full sized adult in a rollaway bed? I took the chance, yes, but because I thought I was guaranteed two beds.

Becer again, of coyrse! The eates are not lower! Sure the webaite rate is, what, 10 dollars less? But the total us much higher due to the fees. Total rip iff

Yes, i do think this is acceptable. As well, while i imagine it would be a personal choice, for 3 adults i would actually prefer one king bed + rollaway vs. two double beds. I would also prefer a rollaway vs. a pullout sofabed, which is also a possibility for the 'second bed'. W Hotels are known for their excellent beds, so while the rollaway may not be as awesome as the King bed that is in the room... it's not going to suck.

But the total us much higher due to the fees.

While i agree the room rate you paid is not much lower (and the total actually a little higher after fees), you did have a guess of two likely hotels before you made your purchase... did you check rates at each property for your dates before you committed to the purchase?

You seem determined to defend Hotwire and that is fine by me. But you can't deny that a rollaway bed is not going to work for every single adult in the world. I would never ever consider a rollaway as an option unless it was for a teenager or child. I smell class action suit in behalf of all adults that can't fit in a rollaway and have been expected to somehow spill out of s rollaway bed in 4.5 star hotel room. Maybe they shouldn't travel at all?

About the price, you are right, I am not sure anymore, I thought I had checked these hotel prices or maybe they went diwn this mirning, I dont know! but wouldn't you exoect a pretty good price under the gimmick of "we can't tell you the name until you book"? Come on..

I have both defended and criticized different hotels and booking services based upon the circumstances, and in this instance i don't have a problem with the hotel using a rollaway bed to accommodate a third person in the room, which is standard practice in the hotel industry. I don't necessarily agree with all standard industry practices, and it's fine if you don't agree with this one.

I want to add that , in the end, I was able to get my two bed bedroom, thanks to the hotel's wonderful

manager.

Hotwire, as I have read in countless complaints about them, quite simply doesn't have a customer service. They just gave a few people repeating the same script over and over. I guess I should commend them for their persistence. But felt like I had checked in at Hotel California with them.

I am writing this also because I want to caution any unsuspecting user to never ever ever! Use Hotwire to book 3 ppl in one room. I can see how it can work out for up to two ppl but even then! Make sure you do your homework and that you know which hotels you are likely to get and wether the price is indeed lower than at the hotel website.

Overall a learning experience. I broke even, pretty much but I will never ever use Hotwire ever again.

Glad to hear you were ultimately able to work out the room assignment with the hotel.

As with anything you purchase (whether it be a hotel room, car television, etc) you should understand the terms of what is expected of both you and the other party in the transaction.

Enjoy your stay and have fun in NYC.
