Romelle Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Priceline only had 2.5, 2 and 1* bidding available for Terre Haute. I bid the 2 1/2* Priceline until I almost reached the Hotwire $$ total. At my $51 bid I got a +$17 counter-offer, and at my $54 bid I got a +$14 counter-offer. For the Hotwire Hotel, the amenities are:Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry, High-Speed InternetHoliday Inn3300 US Highway 41 South,Terre Haute,IN,47802$56.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $20.65 Subtotal: $132.65 Trip total: $132.65 While the amenities don't mention free breakfast, the Holiday Inn website says it has it.The Hotwire rates bounced up and down while I was bidding Priceline. From $55 to $67. This morning it dropped to $54, and probably the same hotel since the amenities are the still the same. The best rate I could find elsewhere was $89, so I'm very happy with the deal. And of course I used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.RomellePS - The new form for reporting is VERY nice to use! Thank you.PPS - I'm going to visit my oldest grandson in college at Terre Haute. Fun trip.

Romelle Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 The room was very comfortable and nice. Right off I-70. The front desk was firm about not including breakfast for HOTWIRE purchasers.Romelle
thereuare Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 From their website it doesn't appear that breakfast is a standard amenity, but only included for special packages:Ask about an inclusive rate with breakfast...Which seems to make sense given that the Holiday Inn brand usually does not offer an included breakfast (whereas the Holiday Inn Express usually does)Hopefully you saved enough on the room to buy breakfast here or locally in the area. ;)Other than the breakfast, hope you enjoyed the stay and the time with your grandson. Romelle Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 Local specialty - Square Donuts at 940 Wabash. $6.50 a dozen! All sorts of flavors and fillings. A fine breakfast, and my grandson and roommate loved the other eleven. You are right about the fine print regarding included breakfasts. I didn't read it carefully enough. But a non-issue, considering the excellent option I found. A great trip! Romelle
