Hotwire is offering a 3 1/2 * in Punta Cana feb 20-feb28 for $176/nt. This is the description, I know that AI's all have pretty much the same amenities, but does anyone recognize this?

This property has not yet been reported to the board, but it has previously been guessed that this may be the Barcelo Premium Punta Cana, and that would be my best guess for this one.

I did use the HOTWIRE link to find this.

The website for Barcelo Premium (AKA Barcelo Bavaro Beach)says that it is adults only, but the Hotwire description says that their hotel offers children's activities so it doesn't appear to be the same one.

Possibly the Barcelo Punta Cana (also 3 1/2*).

I'll let you know what I end up doing.

PS The Barcelo Premium/Bavaro Beach website also calls the hotel "A 5 Star Hotel For Adults" even though every other travel site lists it at 3 1/2

Barcelo offers a "premium" classification to their hotels... both the Barcelo Bavaro Beach and the Barcelo Punta Cana are classified as 'premium' properties. The Barcelo Punta Cana is the one i was referring to above.

I tried bidding on Priceline for a 3 1/2-4* in Punta Cana for 02/20-02/26. I kept adding areas w/o that level until I hit $200/nt but no hit.

So I bit the bullet and went with Hotwire.

3 1/2* for those dates at $172/nt.

Turned out to be the Barcelo Punta Cana. Their website shows $256/nt for the only available rooms and Expedia show $267/nt.

Hotwire did not have any reviews and other sites have a mixed bag.
