Rissa2011 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 Hi,We are planning a trip to London, Paris and Italy. I would like to book London first between 5/1 to 5/4 with a max. amount of $180-$200 per night. Ideally, we would like to stay around Mayfair/Soho. Is this a realistic amount for a 5 star through Priceline? I also have a post on the Hotwire forum requesting for help in identifying a hotel. Any tips on pricing and strategy would be much appreciated. Thanks,Rissa
thereuare Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! For future posts, please post only the amenity names (and not the descriptions) as you can see how much easier it is to read and helps minimize the chance that we'll miss an amenity when researching your trip.5-star Hotel in Mayfair - SohoThis Hotel features the following amenities:Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services Unfortunately this property has not yet been reported to the board. I did give a search, but given the non-descript amenities and the number of hotels in the area, i wasn't able to gain any insight into this one.It does have a very good 4.5/5.0 Tripadivsor rating which is very good, so i don't think there would be any issue in terms of quality, but i don't have a grasp of which one it may be or the location within the zone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. thereuare Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 I would like to book London first between 5/1 to 5/4 with a max. amount of $180-$200 per night.I have just merged your threads, please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The HOTWIRE property i just researches above is priced (on my search) at $266/nite, so is this not an option for you since it's over your $200 maximum bid?$200 for a 5* hotel would be in the right 'ballpark'... it may take a bit more or perhaps a little less. Did you want to start by looking for a 5* hotel in this zone up to $200?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Rissa2011 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 Thank you! The answer is yes, I would like to keep it up to $200 for this area for a 5 star. Any guidance on bidding strategies would help.Rissa
thereuare Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 At the 5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 5* Mayfair-Soho...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Mayfair-Soho and re-bid zone3...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Mayfair-Soho and re-bid zone4...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Mayfair-Soho and re-bid zone3 and re-bid zone4...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Rissa2011 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 Hi,I am a little confused with this strategy. I've added a re-bid zone before after being rejected. However, once I've used up Mayfair/Soho and then add rebid zone3, how do I re-bid on zone1 again? Thanks,Rissa
thereuare Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 ...once I've used up Mayfair/Soho and then add rebid zone3, how do I re-bid on zone1 again? It's a new combination... you never bid re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone3 together. If this isn't clear let us know and we'll try to clarify further to avoid any potential mistakes.Do you want to confirm your re-bid zones with the board? thereuare Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Yes, the above is correct except for the last round of bidding, where you need to include 're-bid zone3' in the bidding as well:Select 5* Mayfair-Soho and re-bid zone3 and re-bid zone4 (Wembley and Kensington - Earl's Court)Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone1 (Finsbury and Islington)Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone2 (Hammersmith)Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Rissa2011 Posted February 4, 2012 Author Report Posted February 4, 2012 I did the biddings and did not win. Should I wait 24 hours and then do the biddings again at a higher price or do you think if I keep bidding everyday I can get it at $200 eventually. Thanks,Rissa
